This is workhorse coffee. Delicious black or with cream and sugar, Porters is a full-bodied and potent brew. The Tanzania is roasted long and low for rich, chocolaty flavor and blended with a darker roasted Brazil that brings forward the “bold” notes of a traditional dark roast. The slight butterscotch note that emerges from the combination is what makes this a daily craver.

Story
This blend’s flavor profile is inspired by the hardworking coffees of the early 20th century and the indefatigable work of Floridian activist and Jacksonville resident Asa Philip Randolph. Founder of America’s first Black union, civil rights advisor to 2 presidents, and head of the 1963 March on Washington where Martin Luther King delivered his world-changing “I have a dream” speech.

Born in St Johns County, A. Philip Randolph, founder of The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, led the famous Pullman Porters of Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway starting in 1925 and grew it to a national organization.

In addition to starting the first black union, Asa went on to advise presidents Eisenhower and Truman on civil rights issues.

In 1963 he and Bayard Ruskin led The March on Washington which forever altered the trajectory of the civil rights movement.

Our stamped bag design is an homage to Randolph's National Association of Black and White Workers union.

This coffee is a perfect daily drinker, the flavors are heavy enough to shine through some cream and sugar, but sweet enough to enjoy black. It also makes great conventional espresso drinks. Please try this exquisite coffee, it'll be your new daily drinker.
